Christopher Mohr, PhD

Dr. Christopher R. Mohr is an internationally recognized nutrition expert and is one of the most sought-after dietitians in the country. He is the consulting sports nutritionist for the Cincinnati Bengals and a nutrition spokesperson and consultant to a number of media outlets and corporations including Gatorade, The Dairy Council, and Nordic Naturals. Paul has twice represented the United States in the Olympic games, first in 1988 where he finished 10th and again in 1992, earning a silver medal in men’s figure skating. Paul competed in 11 U.S. National Figure Skating championships and finished in the top 5 on 10 occasions. Paul has performed in over 60 major television events on all major networks during his skating career and has been inducted into the Figure Skating Hall of Fame.
In addition to his athletic achievements, Paul earned both his undergraduate degree and MBA at Harvard and has held roles in marketing and brand management for Fortune 100 companies including The Walt Disney Company. He is passionate about health and wellness and helping individuals and organizations achieve peak performance and productivity while enhancing their lives both professionally and personally. He currently owns a business for both elite skaters and executives who are aiming to reach their ultimate performance capabilities. Paul is a highly sought-after expert figure skating coach, delivering seminars and workshops worldwide, as well as a broadcast commentator. Phil Black, MBA
Performance Coach
No stranger to elite performance when the stakes are high, Phil Black brings an extraordinary background and experience to the Johnson & Johnson Human Performance Institute team. A former Navy SEAL and Wall Street financial manager, Phil was also a member of the Yale University men’s basketball team and graduated from Yale with Honors. While working in New York City’s financial district, Phil identified that his true passion lay in a completely different direction. Phil joined and served in the US Armed Forces as a Navy SEAL and led operations based in the Mediterranean Sea and in Central America. As a Navy SEAL Officer he trained SEAL/Joint Special Operations Instructors and directed the training of over 300 students annually in basic and advanced SEAL Tactics.
After his service in the military, Phil earned his MBA from Harvard Business School and was elected Section A President and Co-Chairman of the President’s Committee. Understanding the importance of a strong physical foundation for elite performance and the challenges faced by many, Phil started his own multimillion dollar fitness company and served as the chief executive officer. In 2015, he appeared on an episode of the popular television show Shark Tank, which generated enough interest that shortly after, he sold the company while remaining the Director of Content.
During his dynamic yet diverse career, Phil has been featured in television and print media including NBC’s Today Show, Wall Street Journal, Good Morning America, Entrepreneur, New York Times, Fox News, LA Times, Shape Magazine and others.

As a performance coach with the Johnson & Johnson Human Performance Institute, Phil leverages his versatile professional background in the areas of personal coaching, marketing, journalism, and broadcasting, to help senior level executives perform at their best, both personally and professionally.
Phil holds a Master of Science degree in journalism as well as integrated marketing communications, and a Bachelor of Science degree in communication studies. He obtained his degrees from Northwestern University, where he also played NCAA Division I football.
Phil has a breadth of experience in broadcasting which includes hosting a sports program for Comcast Corporation and serving as a sports anchor for the number one television station in the Orlando market, WFTV Channel 9. As a veteran reporter, Phil has covered numerous sporting events, including several Super Bowls, the Major League Baseball World Series, and the NBA Playoffs. In addition to his broadcasting experience, Phil was an adjunct professor at Boston University and held a marketing role at DreamWorks® Pictures.
Phil is also very active in his community. He counsels young men through life-altering decisions and mentors individuals who are confronted with family or social issues. He serves on the board of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and leads cross training clinics to help prepare high school athletes for college.

After being an administrator and instructor with North Carolina State University for many years, Rhonda founded Waters Learning and Development, an organizational and leadership development consulting firm, and has continued to pursue her lifelong commitment to adult education, training and development. Chris Jordan, director of exercise physiology at the Johnson & Johnson Human Performance Institute, designed and implemented the movement/exercise components of the Corporate Athlete® course, including the widely known Johnson & Johnson Official 7 Minute Workout, and is responsible for the development and execution of all corporate fitness programming. As an experienced international keynote speaker, author and performance coach, he trains hundreds of corporate executives of Fortune 500 companies each year. Chris holds a Master of Science degree in exercise physiology with distinction from the Leeds Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom, and a Bachelor of Science in applied biological sciences from the University of West England in Bristol, United Kingdom.
Prior to joining the Human Performance Institute, he was the fitness program consultant for the U.S. Air Force in Europe, based at the Royal Air Force Lakenheath base in the United Kingdom, and an exercise physiologist at the British Army Personnel Research Establishment of the Ministry of Defence.
Chris is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and Certified Personal Trainer through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), a Certified Exercise Physiologist and Advanced Personal Trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), and a Certified Performance Enhancement Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). Jack Groppel, PhD
Co-Founder
Dr. Jack Groppel is the co-founder of the Johnson & Johnson Human Performance Institute. He is an internationally recognized authority and pioneer in the science of human performance and co-chair of the newly formed Global Alliance for Health & Performance. Dr. Groppel currently serves on an academic appointment as professor of kinesiology and community health at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and served as an adjunct professor of management at the J.L. Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University for several years. Dr. Groppel has addressed the issue of worksite wellness and performance at such policy events as the United Nations Side Event for Physical Activity and Non-Communicable Disease, a U.S. Congressional Briefing on Worksite Health Promotion and represented the worksite wellness industry at the historic Surgeon General’s Call to Action on Walking and Walkable Communities.
In concurrence with his Johnson & Johnson Human Performance Institute duties, Dr. Groppel is the co-chair of the Health Enhancement Research Organization (HERO) Health, Performance & Productivity Study Committee as well as the national spokesperson for the CEO Pledge for Physical Activity of the National Coalition for Promoting Physical Activity.
Dr. Groppel authored The Corporate Athlete book on achieving the pinnacle of corporate performance and co-authored The Corporate Athlete Advantage. He developed the Corporate Athlete® concept for his training program while serving as an associate professor of kinesiology and bioengineering at the University of Illinois, helping both business executives and athletes increase performance levels. In 1992, he combined his program with Dr. Jim Loehr to form the Human Performance Institute. Dr. Groppel has also co-created, organized and led research on the Johnson & Johnson Patient Athlete™ program, which applies the Institute’s Corporate Athlete® program to joint reconstruction patients. For the last decade, Alexander has served in a number of leadership roles, bringing his unique approach to thousands. Most recently, he oversaw key education and research for a leading healthcare system and, prior, was an exercise physiologist within the same organization. Before joining that group, Alexander led an education team for a top wellness program. He also ran the health and wellness programs for Eckerd College, located in St. Petersburg, FL, including the fitness center, intramural sports, club sports and staff and student wellness.
In addition to his professional achievements, Alexander has an extensive academic career including a Doctorate of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Psychology. His dissertation focused on ice hockey coaches’ perceptions of coach education programs through USA Hockey. Using the data collected from coaches and investigating the gold standard around the world, Alexander was able to recommend ways to improve buy-in and support from coaches. During his M.S. in Exercise Physiology, Alexander investigated the effects animal- and plant-based proteins have on muscle protein synthesis. Both degrees were earned from the University of Central Florida. He is also an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Performance Enhancement Specialist.
When not working, Alexander is an avid reader who enjoys woodworking, playing the guitar, hiking and camping.

Chris Diaz

As a performance coach and experienced presenter, Chris is able to translate psychological principles to help lead impactful behavioral change for his clients.
Chris developed a deep passion for the role that psychology plays in an individual’s success while serving in the U.S Navy. During his time as a Fleet Marine Force Corpsman, Chris saw firsthand how mental strength often dictated what a fellow sailor or marine was capable of accomplishing. He realized his life’s purpose would be the pursuit of understanding and sharing the science of the mind.
After his military service, Chris began pursuing his PhD in clinical psychology with an emphasis on human performance at Drexel University. Recognizing the opportunity to leverage his diverse skillset and bring performance psychology to high achievers everywhere, Chris started a performance think tank and serves as the chief executive officer.
Always striving to be the best version of himself, Chris seeks experiences that force him to grow. He holds a black belt in the martial art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, has summited Mt. Kilimanjaro and is always on the search for the next adventure, while appreciating the present moment. Because of his skillset in military and performance psychology, he was brought on to work as the team coach and then chief of operations on the Triumph Games, a televised, multi-round sports competition that challenges world-class military veteran athletes.
Chris is an active volunteer with several national non-profits such as the Pat Tillman Foundation, Team Rubicon, the Bunker and Got Your 6. In Philadelphia, he started and leads a group of Veterans called the Action Tank, and he recently deployed to Haiti as part of a humanitarian mission with a surgical team to run logistics. Chris, his wife, son and Chesapeake Bay retriever Upa, live in Philadelphia where they enjoy traveling and reading.

Kara Mohr is a performance coach and internationally recognized dynamic keynote speaker who is known for her expertise and experience in the areas of behavior change, exercise and motivation. For more than 20 years, Kara has been using her warm and engaging style to inspire teams and individuals to transform their understanding of personal energy and purpose. Her mission is to empower individuals to live life fully engaged as the best version of themselves using strategies for optimizing mindset, movement and nutrition.
Kara began her career in academics and has held faculty positions at the University of Louisville, the University of Pittsburgh and Eastern Michigan University. At the University of Pittsburgh, she was also the assistant director of the Physical Activity & Weight Management Research Center, a NIH-funded research center that focuses on the role of exercise in the prevention and treatment of overweight and obesity. Named one of America’s top weight loss doctors by Prevention Magazine, Kara is a frequently consulted expert for national media, a blogger for U.S. News & World Reports and she is also an expert contributor for Reebok and ReebokONE. Kara is a fellow of the American College of Sports Medicine.
Kara earned a BS in psychology from Pennsylvania State University, and her MS and PhD in exercise physiology from the University of Pittsburgh. She lives in Louisville, KY. In her free time you can find Kara cooking with her husband and having kitchen dance parties with her two daughters.

Stephanie’s professional experience as a licensed clinical social worker and licensed marriage and family therapist is broad reaching and includes intensive individual, group and child/adult psychotherapy. She has helped countless people in both private practice and the corporate sector overcome the obstacles that prevent them from performing at their best and living their most meaningful lives.
Stephanie knows firsthand the challenges facing corporate executives. In addition to her years in private practice, she has worked extensively in the employee assistance program for a Fortune 100 organization and is a sought-after industry speaker and presenter.
As a performance coach for the Johnson & Johnson Human Performance Institute, Stephanie works with individuals and teams. Leveraging her extensive corporate experience and incorporating her knowledge of a wide range of therapeutic modalities, Stephanie helps her clients to make positive behavior changes to better manage their energy and build resilience.
Stephanie earned both her master’s degree in social work and bachelor’s degree in music therapy from the University of Georgia. She is an avid yoga practitioner and is currently pursuing a certification in yoga for children. Stephanie enjoys playing piano, traveling and leading sessions that include meditation and art journaling.

Raphaela O’Day, PhD
Senior Performance Coach & Innovation Catalyst
Dr. Raphaela O’Day is a behavior change expert with 20 years of multi-disciplinary experience spanning research, clinical service delivery, solution development and deployment. Now, as a senior performance coach and innovation catalyst at Human Performance Institute, Raphaela brings her diverse background and experience to help individuals and groups optimize professional and personal effectiveness.
Prior to joining Human Performance Institute, Raphaela was the senior manager of Science Standards in Healthcare Innovation within Johnson & Johnson Health and Wellness Solutions. Here, Raphaela focused on applying evidence-based behavior change strategies across solution development and deployment. Before joining Johnson & Johnson, Raphaela managed and led research in addiction and mental illness at the University of Michigan. Further research and academic work spanned immunology, cancer prevention and treatment in addition to extensive clinical and assessment services for children, adolescents, adults and couples.
Raphaela has published several research articles, contributed to book chapters and is a frequent speaker, presenting on topics including behavior science, behavior change, human motivation and individual, patient and provider engagement at national and international conferences. She holds a B.S. in human physiology with an additional focus in psychology from Michigan State University. She earned an M.A. in school & community psychology and a Ph.D. in educational psychology with a concentration in neuroscience from Wayne State University.
Raphaela was born and raised in Germany. She enjoys hiking, camping and being outdoors with her husband and daughter. As a former classical ballet dancer, Raphaela also loves finding ways to remain connected to the art.

Fred Harburg

With a background as an internal and external organizational architect for many of the world's leading multi-national firms, Fred Harburg now shares his expertise with Human Performance Institute clients as a performance coach and member of the Thought Leadership Council. He is a keynote speaker, executive coach, writer, and organizational consultant with extensive experience designing and implementing engagements that create coaching capability, accelerate organizational transformation, bolster productive learning cultures and develop effective leaders.
Growing up in the desert of New Mexico, Fred has a compelling personal history in highly demanding, intensely challenging, corporate, military and athletic settings. He began his career as an officer and pilot in the US Air Force, where he flew international diplomatic missions, including some that directly supported the White House.
Fred is a guest lecturer at MIT and Harvard Business School, a senior fellow at PathNorth and the Trinity Forum, and led the International Leadership curriculum at The Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. He also serves on several other boards and does extensive international business consulting, adding to the experience and expertise that allows him to deliver life-changing results at the helm of the Human Performance Institute’s energy management training programs.
Fred, his wife Susan, and their three children have traveled the world, as well as lived and worked in a variety of locations, including five fruitful years abroad in Spain and Switzerland. They are active outdoor enthusiasts and deeply enjoy fine arts and music. In 2010, Fred placed eighth in the World Indoor Rowing Championships for his age group.

Jenna has cultivated a significant following within the corporate and wellness sectors, due in large part to her popular online presence where she shares simple recipes and real-life strategies for better health. A sought-after on-air personality, Jenna can be seen regularly on WTLV Channel 12 – First Coast Living. She is featured in popular publications and websites such Mind Body Green, Everyday Health, Men’s Health and Self and is an award-winning recipe developer and active member of The Recipe Redux and the Nutrition Blog Network.
Jenna frequently serves as an expert presenter at leading industry events including the American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences National Conference & Expo, First Coast Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Jacksonville Dietetic Association. She was a contributing author on both 200 Surefire Ways to Eat Well and Feel Better and The Diet Selector: How to Choose a Diet Perfectly Tailored to Your Needs.
A part-time faculty member at the University of North Florida, Jenna teaches Food Fundamentals Lab, Nutrition Education and Community Nutrition in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics. Jenna holds a Masters of Science in health from the University of North Florida where her research focused on nutrition interventions to reverse metabolic syndrome in adults. She is certified as a Registered Dietician Nutritionist (RDN) and Certified Specialist in Sports Nutrition (CSSN). She earned her Bachelor of Science in dietetics from Florida State University and is completing her certification as a Personal Trainer through the American College of Sports Medicine. When she isn’t hard at work, Jenna is running, doing yoga, chasing her two young boys around the house and cheering for her husband’s football team.
